We are pleased to announce that once again we will have a team raising money for Action Medical Research in the Race The Sun challenge taking place on Saturday 27th June 2015.
The ‘Coulrophobic Philanthropists’ are made up of two of the four team members who took part in the Race The Sun Lake District challenge in August last year. For this challenge Donny and Matt will be joined by Sean.
Race the Sun is a triathlon style challenge which includes a 45 mile cycle, 2,907ft climb up Pen y Fan and a 3km canoe in the Pontsticill Reservoir, starting before sunrise and aiming to finish just before sunset.
Last year the fastest team came in at 6hrs 37mins so it will be interesting to see how our boys fair!
Action Medical Research
The team are raising money for children’s charity Action Medical Research, dedicated to improving the health of babies and children. Any amount donated, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and can go some way to making a breakthrough in changing someone’s life.
Despite enormous progress in medicine, there are still hundreds of thousands of sick and disabled children who need help. Children like Katie, born two months early who needed resuscitating at birth, Cieran who was left with deafness, epilepsy and cerebral palsy because of meningitis and Jack, who as a baby, was diagnosed with brain cancer.
Action Medical Research is offering hope to the many thousands of families who are dealing with the trauma of a baby born too early, striving to support a child affected by disability, or facing the challenge of caring for a child with a rare and devastating disease for which there is no cure.
Right now the best medical minds in children’s hospitals and universities across the UK are waiting for the green light to start research that could lead to life-changing treatments for babies and children.
